Meet York County Nonprofits Speed Dating Style at Martin Library

By York County Libraries April 23, 2025

Martin Library is hosting an event to help community members learn about the essential work of several York County nonprofits. The program will be held from 4:00 – 5:30 p.m. Monday, April 28 in the library’s Quiet Reading Room. It includes brief five-minute elevator pitches by participating organizations and an opportunity for further conversation.

According to Martin Library Director Mina Edmondson, the library created this event in a speed dating style to give community members a fun and easy way to learn about area organizations. The program is planned just a few days before Give Local York.

“We are fortunate to have so many dedicated nonprofit agencies working to make York County a great place to live,” says York County Libraries President Robert F. Lambert. “This event will provide residents an opportunity to hear how these organizations make a difference in lives every day.”

Participating organizations include Give Local York; Martin Library; Lower Susquehanna Riverkeeper Association; York Literacy Institute; York Habitat for Humanity; York County Food Bank; Servant's Inc.; The Program, It's About Change; Friends & Neighbors of PA, Inc.; Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay; Tec Centro York; and Lifepath Christian Ministries.

Martin Library is located at 159 East Market Street in York, PA. Serving the community since 1935, Martin Library is one of York County’s oldest libraries and is a branch of York County Libraries. It is recognized as a PA Forward Gold Star library for its outstanding provision of programs and resources to community members.  Martin Library also holds the distinguished honor of being the first library to receive the Library of the Year Award from the Pennsylvania Library Association.
